A Council Bluffs city leader has made his first move toward a bid for statewide office.

Councilman Explores Run for Secretary of State

Council Bluffs, Iowa – July 30, 2009 – Councilman Matt Schultz announced today on Facebook and Twitter a Potential Run for Iowa Secretary of State.

Councilman Matt Schultz has organized the “Friends of Matt Schultz” committee with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure board to explore a run for Iowa Secretary of State. “After the encouragement of friends and family I have decided to explore a run for Iowa Secretary of State because I believe it is more important now than ever before that we elect a Secretary of State who will stand up and fight for Iowa jobs and free and fair elections.”

Matt Schultz was first elected to the Council Bluffs City Council in 2005 and is in his second term. Matt is a graduate of Creighton Law School and the University of Iowa. Matt is married with two children and is an Attorney at the law firm of Coats, Schultz & Watson, LLP.
